Hybrid Islanding Detection Method of Photovoltaic-Based Microgrid Using Reference Current Disturbance

This paper proposes a new hybrid islanding detection method for grid-connected photovoltaic system (GCPVS)-based microgrid. In the presented technique, suspicious event is initially recognized whilst absolute deviation of point common coupling (PCC) voltage surpasses threshold. After an intentional delay, transient disturbance injected into source inverter’s d-axis reference current to decline active power output. As result, PCC reduces in operating mode its variation negligible grid presence. Therefore, simultaneous drop and output used as criterion. The effectiveness proposed algorithm investigated various non-islanding scenarios practical distribution network with three GCPVSs. simulation results MATLAB/Simulink show successful small non-detection zone within 300 ms without false tripping during incidents. addition precise fast classification, scheme realized inexpensively; thresholds are determined self-standing, quality degradation eminently small.
